Welcome back! We are back from our success at Village Venture and excited to get going with our next adventure. This month we will be featuring the Watercolor Winter Simply Created Card Kit and the Watercolor Winter Too stamp set. Why, you ask? Because it involves two of our favorite things: winter (yay! sweaters!) and watercolor (yay! easy painting!).
We begin our watercolor journey with the Seasons Greetings card. This is one of four designs that is provided with the kit.
Tip #1: Remember with watercolor, you let the water do the work. That is, first wet down the paper with plain water and then dip your brush into the color and apply. The paint will spread wherever you have placed the water.
Tip #2: To prevent buckling of the paper, try wetting down the backside of the paper before you begin.
Tip #3: Use about 6-10 drops of reinker (we tried working with the ink pads, but couldn’t get a strong enough saturation) in a very small bit of water.
Tip #4: Speaking of small pools of water—you know what works great for tiny amounts of paint? Glass votive candle holders!
Tip #5: If the brush isn’t doing it for you, try using the Aquapainter. It’s a super easy, very forgiving way to apply watercolor.
Tip #6: Be sure to watercolor the pieces (and let them dry) before punching them out. This also helps prevent buckling of the paper.
Be sure to check back on Thursday for our tips on the Merry Christmas card! See you then!
