Our Topic:
It seems to us, as we look through the pictures that represent the best and brightest moments in our lives, that an awful lot of these pictures take place in and about water. So we decided to celebrate all the wet and wonderful days of our lives with this layout.
Your Challenge:
Create a layout about water—even if you aren’t a “water person” you probably enjoy sunsets or the view from shore. And if you don’t like to be in it and you don’t like to look at it, well, then…..you could do the total absence of water with desert scenes!
Design:
This was a really fun layout to design. At first, we wanted to fill the 3×4 pockets in the center of the page with layers of blue paper, cut with decorative scissors—to mimic a water effect. But, always aware that we promised all those weeks ago that you could put these layouts together quickly, we instead took close ups of actual water from our pictures and used those instead—and we love the results. You could use this same technique with almost any natural surface—wildflowers, sky, grass, rocks, whatever.
For the background paper, we are still using those brights, but we stuck to the pacific point at the top and rich razzleberry, for the bottom pockets. It’s our attempt to create the layers of the ocean depths.
And yet, still, the page seemed under-embellished, so we put some sequins from the Bermuda Bay Sequin trim in the bottom pockets. We really love the extra sparkle and fluidity it lends to the project.
Toodles!
