Studio 52: Week 7 – Faves: We Got the Music in Us

Studio 52: We've Got The Music In Us

Studio 52Hello!

We are busy like bunnies catching up with our S52 posts—life sent us a bit sideways, but we are working our way back to solid ground. So fear not—-we will back on track in no time.

Studio 52: We've Got The Music In Us

Our Topic:

Our second of the Faves posts—this week we are celebrating our favorite music (which is harder than it sounds!) We really had to pare down the list to make it fit in one spread, but we are so happy with the results.

Your Challenge:

See if you can create a list of favorite music and create a spread that centers on that theme. There are several ways to this and they fall under the headings of Techie, Medium Techie and Low Techie.

Techie:

You may choose to create a project in My Digital Studio (if you like e-creating—ha! my computer just self-corrected that to “excreting”……—you really should invest in MDS. It only costs $20 and they come out with wonderful and creative downloads for it every month).

To do this:

  1. Create a custom project and size it to 4×6.
  2. Make a text box that is that same size—4×6, or maybe just a hair smaller to allow for a tiny margin.
  3. Go online and find the lyrics you want to be your background and copy them to your clipboard.
  4. Go back into MDS and click on the text box and then paste the lyrics.
  5. We liked the look of the words flowing all the way across the page, so we used basic word processing skills to change the lyrics from stanzas to paragraph form (literally, we just selected text and moved it around until the words covered the entire page).
  6. Click OUTSIDE the text box and then click back on it. (This will allow you to make changes to the entire box at once.)
  7. Choose a font and size you like.
  8. We chose to change the color of the song’s title as it appeared in the lyrics—that’s up to you.
  9. Go back online and google the artist or album and find the pictures you want and bring them to your desktop.
  10. Go back into MDS and create a photo box arrangement that you like.
  11. Drag the pics from your desktop to the photo boxes and voilà! You are done!

Medium Techie:

If you don’t have MDS, you can get the same result using your word processing software.

  1. Again, create a text box to the size you like it.
  2. Go online and find the lyrics you want to be your background and copy them to your clipboard.
  3. You can either bring in pictures and place them over the text box, as described above, or just print the pictures separately and adhere them over the lyrics after you print the lyrics.
  4. Print the lyrics onto 8-1/2×11 cardstock or photo paper.
  5. Cut to size and voilà!

Low Techie:

If you don’t have MDS, don’t like word processing and hate technology, just get your artist on and CREATE!

  1. You may choose to write out lyrics by hand—or just parts of lyrics—or titles of songs—or names of artists.
  2. You may want to include photos of albums, or artists, or people you love dancing or you sitting back listening to vinyl (because you are low tech….). And voilà!

Have fun!
