Our Topic:
This week we had fun with a “then and now” spread, featuring Rachel. The hardest part of this kind of scrapbook page is that, back when we were young, in fact, until a relatively recent time, pictures weren’t stored digitally. So this involves digging around in some boxes to find the “then” pictures and then, either taking new pics for the “now” or, if you are really smart, like Rachel, you have been keeping up with picture-taking tradition and reposing old pictures all along. (Snaps for Rach!)
Your Challenge:
You should choose some old, favorite pictures and pair them with similar, more recent pictures. It can even be fun to recreate some old pictures, if you’d like.
Are you reeeeaaadyyyy….? Go!
Design:
Our current paper has a kind of playful quality about it—what with all the polka dots and crazy stripes. So we added some playfulness of our own! There was one picture we looked at that didn’t have a “then” to pair it with, but it was such a great picture we wanted to include it. So, we created a “peek-a-boo” (wow—are we using quotation marks today or what??) panel, by attaching a door to the picture by using washi tape along the top, hinge-style. This adds a fun element to the page and allows us to include that great kissing picture. If you have several then and now pictures, you may have some fun by “hinging” the then picture over the now (or visa/versa), so you lift the flap to reveal the second picture. Have fun!
Paper:
We used a combination of the last of the black and white paper and added in some of the new paper we replenished with. We used Whisper White cardstock and Wild Wasabi markers for the labels.
Embellishments:
Silver Soda Pop Tops, flowers made from the flower punch from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack, Essential Wooden Elements and the In-color Sequin Assortment, along with various washi tapes.
