Our Topic:
We will be having several “faves” pages this year and this is the first one. It’s no surprise that we love color here at Finders Keepers—in one post long ago we boasted that, when you rearranged the letters of our names, it spelled “bring on the color” if you omitted some letters and misspelled everything. (‘rinl an the calar!)
Your Challenge:
Take some pictures of things
that are your favorite color
and arrange them
artfully around the page.
Hint: Sarah actually has a Pinterest board of things that are her favorite color (purple), which really helped. So go do a Pinterest search of your favorite color and see what happens!
Design:
As always, we wanted this page layout to be quick and easy. So we didn’t want to let the embellishments get out of hand (which is a challenge for Sarah….). Our solution? We printed more than one of our pictures (in different sizes) and then punched out pieces with the circle punch. Then, we arranged them, in a sort of bubble cloud, ascending the page, from lower left to upper right, and adhered them with dimensionals to lift them off the page a bit.
In this picture, the buttons and embroidery are the picture, which we then layered with a circle of one of the other pictures and sequins:
Embellishments:
We scattered some In-Color Sequin Assortment across the page with our “bubbles” and then adhered them where they fell with glue dots. (Okay. We confess this took a few minutes—maybe 20—but we couldn’t help it! We just sat and glued sequins while we helped Sarah’s son, Trumann, learn how to use MDS. Time well spent!)
Check this out: some sequins fell on the binding edge and we just glued them down right there. Every time we look at this it makes us smile.
Paper:
We didn’t use any paper this week—except the calendar—because we had so many beautiful pictures.
See you next time!
