Our Topic:
This week we wanted to celebrate those few moments when we actually get to do something we enjoy just because we want to. As is the case with most of you, we don’t get many of those moments, but we really like to make the most of them when they do come around. If you ask the people closest to us, they would probably tell you that we have maybe too many outside interests (is that even possible???). Anyway, here’s to the hobbists among us, may they knit (or scrapbook or sing madrigals or whatever) to their hearts’ content!
Your Challenge:
Celebrate your in-between moments by creating a layout all about your interests, hobbies and the people you share them with. Even if you don’t have a traditional hobby (like knitting, for instance), maybe you have a hobby that you didn’t really even know you have—people watching? button collecting? arranging and rearranging your socks?
Whatever it is, celebrate it!
Design:
Well, first of all, admittedly, we used a lot of stamp sets. We will list them all below. But you don’t have to employ as many as we did to have a great layout. The only reason we used so many is because when we went to the stamp shelves they all started calling to us and we just couldn’t say no. So do what feels right to you.
Second, we only used two inks: Garden Green and Basic Black. But we used the Garden Green at full strength, as well stamped off once, as is shown in the following illustration:
Third, when we were stamping the title card, we ghosted a bit, but not wanting to waste the paper and ink, we found a way to mask it—we put candy dots (brights collection) at the tip of each ray, which turned out great on two counts:
(1) they hide the mistake and (2) they look great and, happily, really add some needed color to our design! Don’t you just love when mistakes turn out well?
So, we repeated the pattern on the facing page, to add balance, thusly:
Last, we added a little something special by wrapping some DSP with the yarn used to knit the washcloth that is pictured.
