We found this picture of pumpkin topiaries in a Grandin Road catalog and loved them–but the price was a bit out of our budget. So, off we went, coupons in hand, to Joann’s. We found everything we needed (except the twinkle lights, which we got at Michaels) for 2 topiaries, for less than $90. (Which is still some coin, but look how great they look!)
Here’s how we did it:
This is what you need: |
2 urns 2 black, branch-y wreaths 2 big pumpkins (the fake kind–we bought them already painted) 2 medium pumpkins 2 small pumpkins 2 strands battery-powered LED lights (we wanted orange, but had to settle for amber to save $$$) hot glue newspaper |
Wind LED lights around wreath in a casual, meandering way. Allow the battery pack to dangle into urn.
(We put some crumpled newspaper in the urn to support the battery pack.)
Remove the stems from the large and medium pumpkins
by rocking them back and forth and
giving them some twists.
Hot glue the pumpkins into a stack.
And–voila!–a stack of pumpkins in an urn.
Who could ask for more?
